Jaguar Land Rover

British multinational luxury automotive manufacturer and subsidiary of Tata Motors, owning the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC (JLR) is a British multinational luxury automotive manufacturer and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. It is headquartered in Whitley, Coventry, United Kingdom, and specializes in designing, developing, manufacturing, and selling luxury automobiles under the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

JLR is one of the largest auto employers in the United Kingdom, with about 33,000 employees. Both marques have long histories prior to their merger: Jaguar dates to the 1930s and Land Rover to the 1940s. They first came together in 1968 as part of the British Leyland conglomerate, later operated independently, and then became subsidiaries of BMW (Land Rover) and Ford Motor Company (Jaguar). In 2000, Rover Group was broken up by BMW and Land Rover was sold to Ford, becoming part of its Premier Automotive Group.

Jaguar Land Rover has been a subsidiary of India-based Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles since 2008, when it was founded as a holding company for the acquisition of Jaguar Cars and Land Rover from Ford. On 1 January 2013, the company was renamed Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC.

In China, Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company Ltd. is a 50:50 joint venture between JLR and Chinese automaker Chery, headquartered in Changshu. It was formed to allow production of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in mainland China, with its first assembly plant in Changshu commencing production in October 2014.
